Herbert Werder Retrospective
featuring illustrations by
Ilon Wikland
12.04 - 26.04.2026
This retrospective exhibition of HERBERT WERDER’s work showcases his creative output and his ongoing artistic journey. Drawing on traditional craftsmanship, he has developed a distinctive artistic language that bridges painting, sculpture, design and installation. His works navigate the space between reality and hidden truths.
The inclusion of illustrations by Ilon Wikland, illustrator of Astrid Lindgren’s children’s books, stems from a family connection: Herbert Werder is wed to the illustrator’s daughter. Swedish culture and language comprise a significant part of his life.
This is also evidenced by the company FALU VAPEN Schwedenfarben, which he founded in 2011 together with his wife, Fredrika Wikland. The company distributes breathable, traditional Swedish wood paint for timber façades. The firm endorses high-quality timber architecture and aligns with Herbert Werder’s artistic vision, which bridges tradition and modernity.
